Boquete sits in a valley on the eastern flank of Volcán Barú, Panama's tallest peak. Mineral-rich volcanic soil, cool nights, and a steady mountain mist the locals call bajareque slow cherry ripening and concentrate sugars in the bean. These are the conditions that earned Boquete its reputation as Panama's most celebrated coffee region, and the reason its high-altitude lots draw buyers from across the world.
The Garrido family planted their first trees here in 1959, when founder Teodoro Garrido set out to grow exceptional coffee in the hills above town. The family now farms four estates across the valley, from Margarita Village in the lower slopes up to Los Rosales near 1,700 meters. Today the operation is run by Teodoro's daughters, who pair generations of hands-on knowledge with GPS-mapped lots to track ripeness and harvest each plot at its peak.
The CraftWashed for Clarity
This is a fully washed coffee, classified Strictly Hard Bean for its density at altitude. Ripe cherry is depulped, fermented to lift the fruit away from the seed, then rinsed with clean mountain spring water and dried in the sun. The washed method strips away the pulp early, so what reaches the cup is the pure expression of the bean: transparent, structured, and bright.
We roast this lot to City+ at our solar-powered Virginia Beach roastery. The development is measured to coax out caramel and malt sweetness while protecting the delicate floral and stone-fruit notes that lighter roasting preserves. The goal is a clean, balanced cup that shows exactly why Boquete coffees command the attention they do.

The first sip opens bright and refined, with subtle wine-like structure that frames the cup without turning sharp. As it cools, caramel and malt sweetness fill in, carried on a smooth, gently creamy body. Hints of stone fruit and a soft floral lift round out a long, sweet finish.
Balanced and approachable, this is a coffee that reveals new layers as the cup settles. Easy to drink through the day, clean enough to reward close attention.
Find Your FixBrew it on a V60, Chemex, or Beehouse to spotlight the brightness and floral lift, or pull it through Drip and Aeropress for a rounder, sweeter cup. Whichever way you reach for it, shop the rest of our coffee beans and find your fix.
